Normal Life

This project, Normal Life, captures everyday scenes where I live. It is my first photography series after overcoming depression. During that time, I often felt overwhelmed by the constant conflicts on social media, where people seemed consumed by trivial battles.

One day, I came across a post about the positive things happening in the world. It brought me a sense of peace and hope, giving me the strength to carry on. That experience inspired me to focus my photography on the positive, aiming to evoke hope and resilience in others. Through this work, I hope to encourage people to find beauty in their ordinary lives and to unite in preserving peace, rather than getting entangled in personal conflicts—especially during these times of economic crises and regional wars.

However, as the camera gradually led me to truly see the world around me, I shifted from an optimistic tone to one of objectivity. Life is neither as good nor as bad as it seems. People live within it, experiencing joy, sorrow, anger, or indifference. I like this authentic tone—one that doesn’t filter out negatives or positives but reflects life as it truly is. It’s not a rejection of optimism or idealism but rather the foundation of them.

Through the honesty and objectivity of documentary photography, I’ve come to see the world as it is, unlike painting, where you can create anything purely from your subjectivity. The camera firmly connects me to the real world and sometimes push me to look the world outside of me—at people, animals, plants, emotions, movements, and events. Those seemingly ordinary moments cannot be repeated, just like our lives.
